There might be more than one time you get a custom Minecraft map which is based on something from reality such as a place, a person or a thing. The Nidaros Cathedral map is one of them which is based on a cathedral. This map has shared the same name which its inspired thing. The cathedral was built during the 11th century in Trondheim, Norway, it is a pretty accurate representation of the landmark it mimics. St. Olav would proud of the cathedral built in his honor now reproduced in the world of Minecraft. Unfortunately, unlike its great look of the outside, the building doesn’t have much to offer on the interior.
That’s usually what you get from custom maps like this though. They alwayslook excellent on the surface but they have no real depth. It’s not fair to say the Nidaros Cathedral map doesn’t have an inside, because it does. It’s not really elegant or beautiful as the building from the outside, and that might make some players disappointed of considering the amount of work, time and detail while creating the building. Still, if you bring the cathedral from this map into a world of your own, you could build the interior yourself during your gameplay. It makes a pretty nice base after all.
