Strangely, unlike its name, the resource pack of OnionCraft has almost nothing to do with onions, excepting for the giant onions which replace pumpkins and melons in Minecraft, so hopefully, you will like the taste of that vegetable. But, excluding that pretty silly name, this pack definitely has a lot of interesting things to offer. Well, the OnionCraft resource pack features a great number of flat textures that might look somewhat basic and pretty simple but actually cast some realistic shadows due to the updated lighting effects. In addition, lots of things from this pack also look more segmented, such as the bark on the sides of trees, the dirt on the ground in several places. By that way, this pack makes the look of your world more symmetrical and less natural.
One among the coolest things about OnionCraft resource pack is the fact that you can see clearly the bottom of some bodies of water. This only really works for rivers, streams, as well as some small lakes and ponds because it seems there’s a limit to how far down the vision will go, and you are not able to see through the bottom of the seas without diving down some distance. However, this is really great for those ones who love to build bases under the water surface because it allows them to quickly find suitable patches of relatively flat land, in that way, saving them a great amount of time on clearing space to build their own home or base.
It might sound a little strange, but in fact, OnionCraft resource pack is not technically compatible with the latest versions of Minecraft. It was made for Minecraft 1.7, specifically 1.7.10; therefore, if you try to use this pack with 1.8 or above, you are pretty much guaranteed to get into some troubles. Besides, the low resolution of 16x means everyone who plays the game normally can also enjoy using this pack without any problem, so it is highly accessible to boot.
